What are the Symptoms of HIV?

The HIV symptoms contain Fever, Headache, Sore throat, Swollen lymph glands, Rashes and Extreme fatigue. These symptoms subside within a week or so and are mistaken for other viral infections. More persistent or severe symptoms of HIV infection may not appear for 10 years after the symptoms of the initial infection subside. As the infection continues to erode the immune system it gives rise to more prominent symptoms like:
  • Swollen lymph nodes — often one of the first signs of HIV infection
  • Diarrhea
  • Fever of high grade
  • Cough and shortness of breath
  • Persistent, unexplained fatigue
  • Soaking night sweats
  • Persistent headaches
  • Unusual, opportunistic infections
